Theme day: smell

This month's City Daily Photo theme is Smell.  Saw these at a local farmer's market.  Not only did they smell good; they tasted good, too.  Linked to City Daily Photo.

Monday Mural: seeking Quasimodo

This mural is found on the Oakland-Emeryville border just off San Pablo Avenue.  I'm sure the grafitti font spells out the artist's name.  Can anyone read it?  The gargoyles are an interesting visual element.

Update:  The artist's name is Saze.  Even with a mainframe I would never have figured this out.

Monday Mural: noodles and chopsticks

Don't ask me who this is supposed to be.  I have no idea.  Maybe a slacker Homer Simpson with the munchies?  Found on a warehouse wall in West Oakland.  Alas, I did not find a signature.

Monday Mural: Homage to the Warriors

Found this in West Oakland on the front of a small market.  At first I didn't understand why some of the Cleveland Cavaliers were in the mural.  Then I realized Kingi57 painted this last year after the Warriors won the NBA championship.

Why am I posting this today?  Because less than a minute ago the Warriors beat the San Antonio Spurs on the Spurs' home court, thus equaling the best season win record in NBA history.  They also set a new record for road wins.  And they gave the Spurs their first home loss of the season.  Wow!  If the Warriors win the last game of the season on Wednesday, they set a new NBA season win record.  They're definitely going to the playoffs and we're all hoping they'll win another championship.  Pretty radical.

Monday Mural: in the eye of the tiger

I found this leaping tiger on a fence behind a West Oakland convenience store.  I thought it was well rendered and had a definite personality.  Finding random pieces like this is always a delight.  Sorry, but I did not see a signature.
